The excitement began bright and early with convenient pick-ups in the city at 8:00 AM and Strathfield at 8:30 AM. Even though the morning started with a gentle wake-up call, the anticipation of the day ahead quickly filled the bus with lively energy.
The scenic journey from Sydney to Orange set the perfect tone, transforming a simple drive into an integral part of the adventure.
A Scenic Stop at the Iconic Hydro Majestic
Our first memorable stop was at the breathtaking Hydro Majestic Hotel in the Blue Mountains. While it was a brief visit, the sweeping valley views and the hotel’s stunning historic architecture provided an ideal opportunity to stretch our legs, capture some beautiful photographs, and truly soak in the crisp Blue Mountains air.
It was a picturesque interlude before our main destination.
Lunch Break & Heading to the Orchard
Continuing our journey towards Orange, we made a quick and efficient stop for lunch at McDonald’s. It was simple and fast, which was ideal because we were all eager to get to the cherry farm.
The Main Event: Cherry Picking Fun in Orange
Upon arrival at the orchard, the real pick your own cherries Orange adventure commenced! We spent two delightful hours immersed in the rows of cherry trees, laden with plump, ripe fruit. Shield yourself from the sun during those two hours of picking. The orchard provides plenty of shade, but a hat ensures comfort throughout the experience.

Before departing the orchard, a visit to the farm gate stall was a must. Here, we indulged in purchasing more fresh fruit and, to our surprise, discovered trays of double yolk eggs from local Orange chickens. This unique find was a delightful souvenir, promising a special breakfast experience. It’s a testament to the charming local produce available in the Orange region.
